Why Speed Matters in Dementia Care Partnerships

By Casey Criss, Senior Director of Client Success & Channel Partnerships

In my role, I spend a lot of time listening to channel partners – home care agencies, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and other GUIDE participants who are doing everything they can to support families navigating dementia. One theme that keeps coming up is that when a caregiver raises their hand and asks for help, timing matters.

Dementia doesn’t wait. Caregiver stress doesn’t pause. And families don’t have the luxury of sitting in uncertainty while systems catch up.

That reality shapes how I think about partnership, and caregiver experience.

Family caregivers are already carrying an extraordinary burden. They are managing medications, watching subtle changes in behavior or health, coordinating appointments and trying to keep their loved one safe at home. Not to mention that caregivers need to focus on their own health, too. When support arrives quickly, caregivers gain confidence, and they find answers. When support is delayed, time passes which leads to increased feelings of fear, anxiety, doubt, and exhaustion. Programs that are agile and scalable can meet caregivers where they are, when needed, without forcing them to navigate layers of friction before real support begins.

The key to speed is scalability and agility. Dementia is not a niche condition – it’s a growing condition, truly a family disease that touches every market, every ZIP code, and every care setting. Each day can present varying challenges that are so difficult to prepare for. Solutions that rely on narrow footprints or slow rollouts leave gaps. Scalable models allow partners to refer families with confidence, knowing that geography or volume won’t become a barrier to accessing care.

Agility also benefits clinical and operational teams. When caregivers receive guidance early, they are better equipped to detect changes in condition before those changes escalate into avoidable crises and hospitalizations. That proactive engagement supports better outcomes for patients and families, reduces strain on providers and aligns with the goals many ACOs and home care partners are working toward today.

At Ceresti, our focus has always been on expanding access to guidance, education and support for caregivers who would otherwise go without it. We believe that when caregivers are supported quickly and at scale, everyone benefits: families feel less alone, partners see smoother coordination and care teams can operate more effectively.

Ceresti begins supporting families the second a Ceresti Tablet is received in the mail. Education and coaching happen immediately, because families shouldn’t have to wait any longer for appropriate support and guidance.

At Ceresti, speed is more than a differentiator – it’s our responsibility. Because we believe that  in dementia care, delivering support faster isn’t the right thing to do operationally. It’s just the right thing to do.
