Support Caregivers During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Being a Caregiver During COVID-19 is Challenging.

The COVID-19 crisis creates significant challenges for Members with cognitive impairment and their family caregivers:

  • Members have limited physical access to their providers due to social distancing mandates and fear/risk of infection
  • Family caregivers are more burdened than ever; the heightened risk of caregiver burn-out, loneliness and guilt has compromised the quality of care for the Member
  • Members and spousal caregivers are having difficulties using biometric devices and accessing telehealth resources due to technology challenges, and tech-savvy family members are not available to help due to social distancing
  • Health plans will be challenged to complete HCC risk adjustment coding for Members with cognitive impairment unless a family caregiver is engaged and can facilitate a telehealth visit

Our Digital Health Programs Support Caregivers During COVID-19

Our digital health programs are entirely remote and are delivered via mobile app, dedicated tablet and web-browser, with the human support of a remote coach.  We do not go into the home, however, we support caregivers during the COVID-19 crisis in many way, including:

  • Ceresti coaches develop a trusted virtual relationship that helps family caregivers struggling with loneliness and social isolation.
  • Recently added content specifically supports family caregivers whose loved one (i.e., the Member) lives in a facility that does not permit visitors.
  • Our database of resources, which includes community-based organizations, encourage caregivers to utilize remote/virtual resources as much as possible.
  • We facilitate telehealth between Members with cognitive impairment (via their caregivers) and their providers or care managers.
